By implementing geothermal heating and cooling systems, rooftop solar arrays for electrical offsets, central boiler systems for in-floor radiant heat, and blue-roof and green-roof designs for storm water mitigation, Catalyst maintains the highest possible environmental standards and continually works toward carbon footprint reduction with every project we undertake.
Our goal is always to safeguard the fragile ecology of our planet by promoting sustainable outcomes and advancing green initiatives. Our methodology includes implementing Wisconsin Green Build Home design standards and achieving WGBH certification, experience that has provided our team with a comprehensive understanding of the most environmentally friendly – and cost effective – design practices. We are innovators in this market because each member of the Catalyst family believes unflinchingly in our individual and collective responsibility that we have to the environment and to the people with whom we share it.
One area in which our eco-leadership is most prominent is mass timber. This relatively new but very much up-and-coming construction material is changing the industry, and the environment, for the better. Mass timber offers a renewable and sustainable alternative to its more fossil-fuel intensive industry counterparts. According to a study published in the Journal of Sustainable Forestry, the substitution of steel and concrete with mass timber products in large-scale construction projects can reduce global CO2 emissions by as much as 31%. One of Catalyst’s top priorities is to play an integral role in that global reduction and our ever-increasing number of mass timber projects is just one of the ways we are accomplishing that.
