This year marks an exciting new chapter for Catalyst Construction.
We have officially planted roots in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. While Catalyst has called Milwaukee, Wisconsin, home since day one, expanding west has enabled us to bring our purpose-driven construction approach to new communities.
We’re excited to lead the South Dakota office together, supported by a talented local team that we’re proud to introduce.
Establishing this office is not just about growth, but about building meaningful relationships and creating long-term value for the people here.
Why Catalyst Came to South Dakota
The journey began when Catalyst’s leadership identified an opportunity to better serve clients in South Dakota.
With strong ties to the region and a deep background in both construction and development, I stepped in to lead the charge as General Manager.
Soon after, Blake Turbak joined as Senior Project Manager, bringing local knowledge and hands-on expertise. Together, with a growing team, we’ve built a foundation rooted in trust, collaboration, and shared values.
South Dakota is unique compared to Catalyst’s other markets. It’s a place where communities are tightly connected, where “everybody knows everybody.” That closeness comes with responsibility; earning trust here doesn’t happen overnight.
It’s taken patience, consistency, and commitment to doing what’s right for clients, even when it’s the harder path.
Over the past several years, word of mouth and strong partnerships have carried us forward, helping establish Catalyst as more than just a builder; we’re becoming a trusted partner.
Our projects reflect the heart of this region: schools, churches, and nonprofits that serve as cornerstones of community life. Projects like Great Plains Lutheran and our ongoing partnership with The Village of Harmony Hill exemplify the kind of impact we want to have. Harmony Hill, in particular, has played a pivotal role in our story.
Their trust during one of the most uncertain times in recent memory gave us the opportunity to prove ourselves, and their continued vision for community development continues to inspire us.
Building Relationships That Last
What truly sets Catalyst apart in the area is how we build relationships.
From business development efforts led locally by Michael Klatt to the way our team executes projects with precision and care, our approach is always people-first.
We’re not afraid to have tough conversations, hold ourselves accountable, or challenge the status quo if it means finding better solutions for our clients.
Looking ahead, our goal isn’t to be the biggest builder in South Dakota, but to be the most trusted partner. With a strong presence in Watertown and a growing footprint in Sioux Falls, I see an enormous opportunity to bring Catalyst’s values to more organizations and communities in the years ahead.
And while leadership may set the vision, it’s our talented local team that brings that vision to life every day. I’m excited to introduce them and share the role each plays in making Catalyst South Dakota what it is today.
