Challenge
Taxco was a significant luxury multifamily project in Milwaukee’s historic Walker’s Point, an area seeing resurgence but lacking new residential stock. The challenge: deliver 141 units (studio to three-bedroom) with underground parking, strong design identity, cultural engagement (murals and homage to Hispanic neighborhood heritage), and high amenity expectations, all while navigating tight urban site constraints.
Solution
Catalyst Construction served as general contractor, building the six-story, 141-unit apartment building with underground parking. Amenities include fitness center, yoga room, bike storage, dog wash, game room, and artful design touches (murals featuring Selena, HAID student artwork). Architect JLA created a design celebrating neighborhood identity.
Impact
-
Became the largest new building in Walker’s Point in years, adding density and vibrancy to the neighborhood.
- Elevated living options with intelligent amenities and cultural resonance (murals reflecting local heritage).
- Cemented Catalyst’s reputation for delivering high-quality, context-sensitive urban residential development in historic neighborhoods.
