As I reflect on my journey with Wisconsin Lutheran College (WLC) over the past 16 years, one significant partnership stands out: our collaboration with Catalyst Construction. This relationship not only transformed our campus but also reinforced the principles of trust, stewardship, and innovation that are vital to our mission of preparing Christian leaders.

When I began my tenure as President in 2008, WLC was a smaller institution with 600 students. Today, we are blessed with a record enrollment of approximately 1,100 students, thanks in part to the strategic growth initiatives and building projects we’ve undertaken with Catalyst. My initial encounter with Catalyst founder, Matt Burow, was serendipitous. His mother was a beloved professor in our education department at the time and Matt, recognizing his connection with WLC, introduced himself to me, and I immediately saw in Matt a kindred spirit—a young, driven, and creative leader.

Our first major project together was the outdoor athletic complex. At that time, Matt’s company was still in its early stages, and choosing them over more established firms was a leap of faith. Despite skepticism from some of my colleagues, Matt’s dedication and vision were evident. The project was a success, completed on time and within budget, which solidified my trust in Matt and Catalyst.
